Doodle Adventures

Our life has quickly come to revolve around our little doodle girl!  Last week, Frankie had lots of visitors and got to go on many field trips to meet new friends (and pups!).  Frankie has come out of her shell quite a bit over the course of the week that she has been home, and she isn't afraid to try and boss around her new dog friends.  Everywhere we go, she is met with oohs and aahs because she is so tiny and fluffy, but she has a feisty streak underneath!  She has slept through the night a couple times, but seems to usually be waking up at least once during the night to go out to go potty.  It still takes a little time for her to get settled back in her crate and back to sleep, so we have been very tired, feeling like we have a newborn baby in the house again!  It's all worth it, and we are so grateful to have a dog again.

Frankie and Midge - I have a feeling they're gonna be friends!

We had a socially-distanced visit with Nana Mil, so she could see the kids and meet Frankie

Snuggle time in Evie's bed with Frankie during bedtime books

This is not exactly where we want her hanging out, but it sure was cute!

Meeting chickens for the first time.  She wasn't sure what to make of them!

Sooo tired!

Frankie's first trip to the river

She loved the water, but was very chilly and tired after!  I got to snuggle her like a baby in a blanket.

While Frankie has been an awesome distraction from the start of school, we can no longer deny that it's on the horizon.  We haven't had our normal cues that the school year is coming, since our entire routine is different with COVID.  Without the Fair coming to town at the end of August, my school radar was really thrown off!  Noah had a meet and greet in his classroom on Friday, and the kids have started their fall soccer season.  The scheduling and logistics feel overwhelming to us adults after being home for the better part of 6 months, but the kids are excited about returning to school.  One of the most exhausting parts of the return to school has been parsing through the numerous emails from the school and making sure that we have the kids adequately prepared for their days at school.  We will be driving them to/from school, and the majority of their in-person school days will be spent with their small cohort in their classroom, even eating meals and having specials (Music, PE, Art, and Learning Center) in their classroom.  Thursday is the first day for Evie and  Noah, and we are hopeful that it will be fun and productive for them to be back at school.

We also celebrated my birthday over the weekend, and it was a relaxing and lovely day.  Of course, it did serve as another reminder about the looming start of school!

Evie made homemade Lemon Pecan muffins to surprise me on my birthday! She is so thoughtful.
