Chaos!

The past week has been pretty chaotic thanks to some home renovation projects we have going on.  We had always said we'd replace our flooring after Roscoe was gone, but then we realized that we should have our interior painted before we did the flooring.  The painting part of the project began last week, so we had to decide on paint colors, pack up everything from the main living area and master bedroom, sleep in the basement, and try to keep the kids and the puppy away from wet paint!  The first couple days weren't bad, because the weather was beautiful for being outside, and the kids had school.  This week has been more challenging with everyone at home and rainy weather outside.  Thank goodness for Grandma and Grandpa's hospitality while we have been displaced!  Matt and I both thrive with routine and order, so this chaos is outside our comfort zone, but we are excited about the progress, and we know the end result will be worth the temporary inconvenience!
So many choices...

Let the painting begin!

I've still been giving COVID haircuts for my favorite clients - especially when it gives me an excuse to get out of the painting zone!

The other big news is that we found out Evie and Noah will return to full-time school next week.  When we asked the kids what they thought about it, they both said they are excited, and they don't want to do fully remote learning unless it is needed to keep people safe.  As parents, we feel a little bit apprehensive, and we are bracing for an adjustment period while everyone builds up stamina for 5 days of in-person learning.  The logistics are also challenging since parents are being asked to drive instead of using the bus.  I will miss this special (and sometimes frustrating) time of hybrid learning, but I'm glad the kids have this opportunity to build relationships with their classmates and teachers now, since there's a good chance we could return to hybrid or remote learning during the winter months.

While we are still on the hybrid schedule, we've been enjoying the freedom to do some fun things during the week.  Evie and Noah did a nature mandala class one afternoon last week, and we have kept busy with soccer, friends, Girl Scouts, and of course having fun adventures with Miss Frankie!

These four kids are the cutest together

Noah and his buddy Simon are two peas in a pod (quite literally, here!)

Evie and Lottie are pretty darn cute, too!

Exploring nature with Girl Scouts

Evie and I enjoyed a little river time after Girl Scouts - how gorgeous is this place?!

Noah scored two goals in his soccer game on Saturday!  This was an exciting first for him!

Then we got to stay and enjoy Evie's soccer game on a beautiful fall day.

Enjoy the weekly chronicles of Frankie...

This looks like a good place for a nap

Frankie is just getting brave enough to try the stairs!

Frankie had her first swim at Indian Brook - she is definitely a retriever that likes the water!  We thought she looked hilarious when she got wet and we could see just how tiny she is underneath all that fluff.

Wet pup!

Aftermath from swimming

All snuggled up (thanks for the towel, Grandpa!)
