Inching toward fall

We are continuing to find our stride with the school routine, but the early wake-ups aren't coming easy just yet.  Actually, the kids are handling it pretty well.  Maybe my problem is that I'm terrible at getting to bed early!  I have been enjoying having some kid-free time to get caught up on errands when both kids are at school, and I love having my one-on-one time with Noah when he isn't at school.  It's hard to believe this is my last year of having a little sidekick at home with me!

Grandpa surprised Noah with a firefighter costume.  He wears it every day now!

Noah and Daddy made a pretend string trimmer so he can train to work with Grandpa

Learning is way more fun with food

Evie has had a fun week of squeezing in the last of summer with swimming and ice cream, then started in on some fall fun with her first soccer game of the season.  She is really excited to start a new activity this week - Irish Step Dance classes!

We rounded out the week with a couple of celebrations - my birthday and the 10th anniversary of the fall family/friends fest.  I felt so loved on my birthday with many kind gestures, texts, calls, cards, and a wonderful family dinner.

Birthday flowers made by Noah's preschool friend Emma

A homemade birthday card from Evie

Jazzercising with my birthday buddy (same birthday!!)

Matt broke a chair in honor of my birthday

Look at this cake that my mom made for me.  YUM!

This sums up how we all felt by the end of the weekend!  Noah fell asleep at 5:45 on the couch, and after I transferred him to bed, he slept until 7:40 the next morning.
