We love our pool time

Something about the beginning of August makes me feel like time is ticking toward the end of summer.  NO!  We have so many fun things left to do!  We still have free passes to the Smuggs water park to use, we haven't made a trip to Maple Street Pool, and many other fun summer things have yet to happen.  Evie can sense the change in the air and has had lots of questions about kindergarten, with a combination of anxiety and excitement.  We ordered her a new backpack and lunch box for school, but we are trying to keep busy and not focus on school too much yet.

I am loving the way Noah talks right now.  "Mommy stop!", "Mine do it", "And Noah too" and "No like dat" are heard multiple times every day.  When we are driving in the car, I often hear, "Whoa, Mommy!" every time we pass a construction vehicle or dump truck.  He copies some of our most-used phrases, like "Wait a minute" and "I don't know, maybe that one?" The most intimate time is when he is going to sleep (yes, still nursing), and chatting with me about whatever is on his mind.  He might tell me about seeing the trash truck, or tell me when he was happy or sad during the day, then he'll tell me "Seeeeep tight, mama" when I leave his room.  It melts my heart and helps me forgive the challenging moments of the day. (Yes, I am talking about the terrible two tantrums!)

We had the honor of celebrating with our dear friend Mary-Alice on her wedding day last weekend.  It was a relaxed, fun, beautiful time that was so fitting for my college roomie, complete with Ben & Jerry's instead of cake for dessert!  We were especially grateful to both grandmas for helping take care of our kids so we could fully enjoy the whole day of celebration.
