| Pardon the awesome outfit - we had just gone sledding! |
| Playing in a fort as we take down Christmas decorations |
- She loves puzzles, and being the proud parents that we are, we're so impressed with how quickly she has learned to do them on her own!
- We can play a couple of board games now, which I am really enjoying! Candy Land and Bear Hugs (kind of like Memory) are two that we play often.
- We have been having lots of fun with her craft table, doing painting, stamps, coloring with markers, and play-doh.
- She also loves books. Berenstain Bears, Mr. Men, If you Give a Mouse a Cookie and Max and Ruby are among her favorites, and I love snuggling with her when we read books!
- Potty training is going great. Evie's independent streak has served us well in this respect, and she'll go in to the bathroom completely on her own, go potty, flush and wash her hands. Pretty impressive! She still wears a pull-up at night time, but for all the potty training success during the day, we feel like she's doing great.
- We have entered the land of 2-year-old tantrums and the battle of the wills. It seems worst when we have to change gears, like getting ready to go somewhere, telling her that it's time to go potty, or when it's time to come upstairs from the play room. It's very dramatic with kicking, screaming, and crying, but fortunately, Evie seems to snap out of it pretty quickly too.
- As part of the battle of the wills, Evie is insisting that she's too big for her high chair at meal time. Sometimes it works for her to sit in a "big girl chair", but other times, it's a huge pain for us. She gets up and down from her chair, spills food, and doesn't eat nearly as well as she does in her high chair. We're still figuring this one out!
- Overall, she is a good eater, and will eat most anything, including olives, hummus, pickles, fresh fruits and veggies (sugar snap peas, broccoli and strawberries are her favs), meat, yogurt, and she drinks a ton of milk. This makes most meals pretty easy for us (aside from the current high chair debate)!
- Speaking of meals, I'm afraid this girl has a sweet tooth like her momma. We both enjoy a nibble of chocolate after dinner, and it's become quite a habit!
- She continues to be a great sleeper, sleeping about 11 hours at night (8:30-7:30ish) and taking a 2 hour nap most days.
We hope that you are all surviving the extreme weather we've experienced lately. Between the ice and the sub-zero temperatures, it's been impossible for us to get outside to play much. We are especially thankful for the play room and our warm fireplace to get us through these cold days!
We did brave the cold to go out sledding on New Year's Day, which was a lot of fun, even if it was only for a few runs down the icy hill!
