Last hurrahs of the summer

The maple trees are telling us that there isn't much summer left!
The past week has felt very busy, because I think we're sub-consciously trying to cram in all the summer activities we can before the weather turns cold.  We have been up to lots of fun things like hiking, going to Daddy's gig at Breakwaters, al fresco dining, playing outside, and getting popsicles from the ice cream truck.

We must have had a little too much fun, because we had to give Evie her first time-out on Sunday.  She was kicking my seat in the car for our entire drive home from church, then completely defying us when we told her to stop.  It broke my heart to make her sit in a time-out chair for two minutes, but we knew we had to deliver some consequences for her actions.  Lately, we've seen Evie testing her limits more often, and some days I feel like I'm more of a warden than a fun mom.

Evie loved the wild blackberries that we found on our hike.  She also did a TON of walking on her own!
It was so nice to enjoy an afternoon at Breakwaters with King Me.  Even better was having both grandmas there to help with Evie!
The many faces of Evie!  Believe it or not, she was very good at the restaurant

We were excited to have two of my aunts visiting from out of town during the past couple of weeks. However, Evie was a little confused by the two ladies that sounded just like Grandma Betti!

We love to have play dates with William, and we're anxiously waiting for the arrival of his new baby brother/sister!  Send all your positive labor vibes their way!

And then, there are some days when it feels good to just stay home...

Party for all the Little People - Evie came up with this idea completely on her own.  Pretty cute!
This face makes up for all those challenging 2-year-old moods!  I love my girl.
