| 5 months old - a very happy girl! |
Evelyn is 5 months old now! I hate to sound like a broken record, but every
milestone makes me stop and think about where we were a month ago, and
even a year ago. Last year, over Columbus Day weekend, we went to a
Colts game in Indianapolis, and when we got home, we started sharing the
news of our pregnancy. It was such an exciting time, and we couldn't
begin to imagine what life would be like with a baby. Now we can't
imagine life without her.

It
was a glorious weekend here in Vermont, so we spent lots of time
outside enjoying the nice weather. We went apple picking on Saturday
and hiking on Sunday, and Evelyn LOVES to be outside. She's really
intrigued by trees and leaves and all the colors.

| Apple picking at Chapin Orchard. Perfect Fall day! |
 |
| Hiking on Sunday - Evelyn LOVES to be out in the woods, looking at the trees and getting fresh air. We love it too! |
Since
our sleep schedule hasn't been going well, we've started putting Evelyn in
her crib when she goes to bed at night. Then, when she wakes up, we
bring her down to her co-sleeper in our room for the rest of the night. This new
technique paid off with her sleeping through the night on Saturday and
Sunday, and we thought we were in the clear! However, last night, we were back to the many wake-ups. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I had a
play-date last week with the Essex girls and their babies, and I was
encouraged to know that they're all going through a similar sleep
regression, but unfortunately, none of us have any answers. We're kind of grasping at straws to see what could be
causing the sleep problems, so we're taking a little hiatus from rice
cereal to see if that could be part of the issue.

| Another attempt at the crib. Of course, we had to fire up the video monitor to keep an eye on things! |
Day-to-day, we try to keep Evie busy with fun things around the
house, and we go out for walks as much as possible. I LOVE working
part-time and having a lot of time at home with Evelyn, yet a couple of
days to get out of the house and chat with other adults. Here are a few
glimpses of some at-home fun!
 |
| The Jenny Jump-Up! We think it looks like a giant diaper with suspenders, but Evie doesn't mind! |
|
 |
| I read that she should practice sitting up. She started off pretty well... |
 |
| ...but not for long... |
 |
...and now she's mad!
|
|
Last,
but not least, here is a quick video of Evie playing peek-a-boo. I'm
sure this is a normal developmental thing, but I think it's so neat that
she understands this little game and thinks it's funny!
