March Madness (in many ways!)

March Madness has struck in more than just the basketball sense!  Of course, we have enjoyed watching as many games as we've been able to catch, and our brackets are completely busted at this point.  The excitement of the basketball tournament is always fun!

An unexpected snowstorm that hit mid-week was another bit of March Madness!  We were only expecting a couple inches of snow, but it was closer to 12 inches by the time the storm was done.  Somehow the kids didn't even get a snow day out of it, but Matt finally had enough snow to make his traditional igloo in the front yard.

Snow was blowing right into our faces for the whole walk.  Not fun!

The snowsuit helped!  Look at the snowballs on Frankie's feet after being out in the snow!

Once the igloo was complete, we had to have dessert in the igloo.  I get a little claustrophobic in there, so I just popped in to see the creation.

Unfortunately, it rained on Friday, so Matt did his best to protect the prized igloo

Looking a little melted

Structural support to save the igloo!

The other form of March Madness was our very busy schedule for Evie's Irish dancing around St. Patrick's Day!  She ended up doing 8 performances from Friday-Sunday (I drove over 200 miles in those 3 days!).  While it was a little bit of madness, it was also a ton of fun.  Evie loved being a part of the troupe, and the dancers did an awesome job at every show.  We were super proud of Evie!

Excited for a festive day!

The first show of the day was at Essex Elementary, so there were lots of familiar faces in the crowd!

Shows #2 and #3 at Milton Elementary School

A fun time at Ri Ra Irish Restaurant downtown

A moment of calm on Church Street after Ri Ra

Final performance of the night in St. Albans

Saturday AM at the "Pie for Breakfast" event.  This girl ate 4 slices of pie!!

Final performance at the Irish Heritage Festival Ceili on Sunday downtown

Some fun audience participation at the Ceili

In between all the "March Madness" there were a few quieter moments, too!  (And yes, they pretty much all involve food!).

Irish Soda Bread muffins

Evie and Lottie wanted to make "tiny cakes"...which ended up just being cupcakes.  Delicious nonetheless!

Frankie enjoys relaxing in her "snow chair" that Matt made for her out back

Shepherd's "Pi" for Pi Day on 3/14

Noah and Daddy pizza date while Evie was at one of her performances
