Snow Sports

As I browsed through our photos from the week, there were three themes: Snow Sports, Frankie, and Food!  What more could we need?

There is nothing more beautiful than the snow on a sunny day!

Snowshoeing, a snowball fight, snowboarding, dismantling the igloo, and even some cross-country skiing have all been part of the fun!  Evie has been doing x-c skiing at school, and she borrowed a set of gear for the winter break.  I dug my gear out, which I haven't used in 15+ years, and we have enjoyed three days in a row of venturing out for some peaceful exercise...and some clumsy moments!  Let's just say that a puppy on a leash with a human on cross-country skis is a dicey combination.  This year, there is a nice path around the field by our house, so it feels super convenient to go right out our front door to start skiing.  Hopefully the snow will stick around and the outdoor fun will continue this week while the kids are on break.

He even went off the jump!

The igloo had gone a little wonky, and Matt was worried that it was going to collapse

Frankie supervised the project

And the boys took all the bricks off.  What will they make next?!

Matt and I had a chuckle about how our wardrobe has evolved from business casual to "pandemic casual!"  It's quite a sight!

Frankie has been enjoying all the time in the snow, too.  Lots of outdoor time makes her good and tired at home.  With all that fluffy fur, she loves going outside to take a snow nap after a busy day!  Matt took it upon himself to build her a "snow bed", and you can imagine how pleased he was when she curled up in it one evening.  I had some fun spoiling Frankie with a few new toys last week, the favorite being an extra-squeaky pig that she carries around everywhere and squeaks at inopportune moments.

Evie has been doing an online cooking class through the library, and this week she made soft pretzels.  It was a super cozy treat!  We also had a couple delightful meat-free meals as we started the season of Lent.

Baked Shrimp Scampi - so garlicky!

And a couple bonus cute kiddo moments from the week...

Evie has been continuing to work on her sewing - she made this cute mask herself!

This was serious bedtime procrastination, but they said they needed "just one more hug!"
