Wishes the Elf

We now have a little elf on the shelf in our family - Wishes the Elf arrived last Tuesday morning.  Evie went to see if her note was still on the front porch, and when she opened the front door, there was a box there with an elf and a story book.  Unfortunately, Evie has big expectations for her elf after talking with her friends at school, and so far, Evie's elf just moves around to different spots. Every night, Evie keeps asking if we think Wishes will bring candy, or if Wishes will do something funny or mischievous.  I guess we have a boring elf, and I'm okay with that!

Evie's letter to Santa: "I would like a lot of presents and air dry clay.  Thank you for my elf on the shelf!"
Our weekend was packed with holiday festivities.  We went to the Train Hop on Friday evening, visited with Santa, took a drive to admire Christmas lights, went to a couple of fun Christmas parties, and Evie set up her village with Grandpa Tom.  We also got the tree decorated and did some practice gingerbread houses using graham crackers.  It kind of feels like we are on a high speed train heading toward Christmas, and we're hanging on for dear life!  Despite the craziness, it has been fun to see the kids enjoying our various holiday traditions.

The adults' favorite stop at the Train Hop!
