Birthdays, blueberries and new teeth

The month of many birthdays is in full swing - we celebrated Carly's 13th on Friday with the family, and we will be celebrating Grandpa Zeke this week when our Colorado contingent arrives for a visit.  I have to give a little ode to Grandpa Zeke in honor of his birthday, because he is a special kind of guy.  He loves to work hard and play hard - from mowing lawns to playing with his grandkids (and spoiling them a little bit), he is always willing to lend a helping hand (ahem, like when I got a flat tire last week).  He has taught me how to fly-fish, enjoy a Vodka Tonic, and most importantly, has taught me the value of family.  We love you Dad!

Blueberry season is here, and I'm so excited.  I picked a bunch, made muffins, and froze a ton so that we can enjoy a taste of summer during the long winter months.  Evie is such a farm girl, and she loved picking berries.  Noah, on the other hand, loved watching us pick, but wanted nothing to do with the berries.  I tried to give him a taste and he flung the blueberry clear across the field!  Yet another way that my children are polar opposites.

We were so happy to have the chance to visit with our friends Dileep and Melodie and their kids while they were visiting Vermont after moving to NC in November.  We miss hanging out with them on a regular basis, but we were reminded that with good friends, you pick up right where you left off even if it's been a while.

Come again soon!

Matt and I were lucky enough to get tickets to see Neil Young at the Fairgrounds on Sunday night, and despite comments from a few people that we are "too young" to enjoy Neil Young, we were amazed by the talent and energy of his music.  There is something magical about seeing a legendary musician while surrounded by the beauty of a Vermont summer evening.  Pretty awesome date night, if you ask me!

Here are a few other miscellaneous photos from the week.  Lots of popsicles have been consumed since Noah got TWO NEW TEETH (top ones next to his two front teeth)!  He also took a couple of steps before he realized what he was doing and plunked back down on the ground.  No further attempts have been made yet!

Frozen nightgown and frozen popsicle.  What more does a girl need?

Can you tell he's using his big sister's hand-me-downs?  At least he looks good in pink!

Noah trying out his Tripp Trapp high chair. Evie loved sitting next to him!
