As November has settled in, the colder, grayer, darker days have arrived, but Evie is not phased. I rather enjoy it, because she inspires us to go outside no matter what the weather is doing. We have even been going for some walks in the evening with head lamps on, and it's been kind of magical to see the moonrise and look at the stars together.

We had our first parent-teacher conference for Evie last week, and we were happy to get a good report. You never know what to expect with a preschooler, since some days she comes home and tells me things like, "Mommy, I hit Andrew today." Yikes! I was pleasantly surprised to hear her teacher say that Evie is a peacemaker in her class, and we got a chuckle out of the fact that she doesn't like to get her hands dirty. She skips the activities like finger painting or anything else she deems "too messy", but she has a lot of activities that she loves, especially sing-a-long time and the board game "Elephant's Trunk." Our biggest challenge is that she's uneasy with changes in routine (you're welcome Evie - your mommy has trouble with change, too!), so her teacher is helping us all to work on that. The conference was the first time that we've had a neutral person give us feedback on Evie, and it felt like a pat on the back that we've been doing alright as parents!
