Noah's second week went a little better than the first. Each day we felt like we got our act together a little more, we had newborn photos taken (link to full album here), and we made it out of the house as a family several times.

One of our big accomplishments was that Matt had a gig on Sunday, and the whole family made it there (with Grandma Karen's help!). It felt good to get out and do something "normal", and let me tell you, that first beer by the lake tasted mighty good to me!
Noah went back to the pediatrician for a weight check, and at 10 days old, he was back up past his birth weight. He weighed 9 lbs. 8.5 oz (81st percentile), and he was 21 3/4 inches long (91st percentile). Dr. Hale was happy with the way he was growing, and said that we don't have to return until his 2-month visit.
Our baby challenge of the week is that we have learned quickly that Noah is a "spitter", meaning that he spits up a lot. Our doctor doesn't think it's reflux, because he is not bothered by it (he termed him a "happy spitter"). We are not enjoying it very much, but I don't know that there is much we can do. Yesterday was an especially bad day when I was on outfit #4 by 2:00pm, and Noah had projectile vomited all over the loveseat, end table, lamp and floor. We never realized how many burp cloths we'd need and how much laundry we'd be doing! If any of you veteran parents have any suggestions on how to deal with this, please send them my way!
Noah is also showing some great signs of progress in the sleep department. At 10 days old, he slept for a 6-hour stretch at night from 12-6. I felt like a million bucks, but Matt didn't get to share the joy because he was up with Evie at 11:45,1:45, 2:30, 3:30, 4:00, 5:00, 5:45...and then he lost count. Since then, she has also been showing some small signs of improvement with her sleep issues, and Sunday night she slept until 3:45 without a wake-up. We know this phase will pass, but while we are in the trenches, we feel like we have two infants, and we are very tired!
A couple other milestones for Noah this week - he lost his belly button on Thursday, and we gave him his first bath. He loved the tub, but was very mad when we took him out of the warm water...he asserted himself by pooping all over the towel while I was holding him! YUCK!
